Developmental Services Ontario - Assessor Navigator

One Full-Time Permanent Position 

 
  • Status:  Full-Time, Permanent
  • Starting Hourly Rate: $34.95 / Hour
  • Office Hours: Monday - Friday - 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, 35 Hours per week
  • Location: Aurora, Ontario L4G3S9 
  • Office Expectations; This position requires:
    • A minimum of one in-office day per month to provide team coverage
    • Attendance at additional in-office meetings, training sessionssupervision meetings, and all-staff events as required
    • Applicants must reside within a reasonable daily commuting distance of the office and/or assigned service area and be able to attend the office as required for operational needs

Job Description


Developmental Services Ontario Central East Region (DSO CER) is one of 9 regional access points for people applying for adult developmental services. The role of DSO CER is to provide information, confirm eligibility for service, assess support needs, and link people to services and supports in their community.

Working within a team, the Assessor Navigator is responsible for the provision of a variety of system functions within York Region or Central East Region. These include administration of the Application Package and the Supports Intensity Scale (SIS) assessment, providing locally based service navigation to applicants, public education and community development functions.


Position Requirements
  • Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent (SSW, DSW, CYW or University Degree)
  • Experience;
    • Minimum of 5 years related experience in a community social service setting
    • Sound knowledge of the population and pertinent legislation
    • Broad experience with individual, family, and systems advocacy
    • Counselling, crisis prevention and intervention experience
    • Judgement with respect to complex service user situations
    • The ability to demonstrate sound clinical judgement
    • Direct experience in consensus building and priority-setting processes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to use a variety of software tools, including Microsoft Word. Excel, Power Point, Data Base, Internet and E-mail
  • Ability to engage and liaise effectively with service users and their families, colleagues, supervisors, other service providers, educational systems, and the general public
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of Agency information
  • Ability to model and promote agency expectations of teamwork and networking within the agency and the community-at-large 
  • Demonstrated abilities in core competencies including team work, initiative/self-management, accountability and flexibility/adaptability 
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, conceptual, and facilitation skills 
  • Ability to lead groups with diverse membership to consensus decisions
  • Second language is considered an asset
  • An understanding of cultural diversity is considered an asset
  • Travel across York Region or Central East Region is required
*   The successful applicant will be required to provide a police clearance that meets agency standards
*   A valid G Drivers License, access to a reliable vehicle and adequate insurance coverage for business responsibilities, OR access to reliable transportation
